Sátis Project
Commercial Study and Complete Planning applied to Coffee Export
“The Sátis Project was the first project I executed, still a trainee, thus being of immense responsibility and commitment. As it is a project about different products and countries, it brought me a lot of learning and training about the real impact that our company has on the Foreign Trade market. In record time, we were able to deliver the best version that this solution could achieve. We were trained, reinvented and developed by Café do Sítio and this, for me, is the true meaning of building tomorrow! ”
Débora de Paula , Consultant of the Sátis Project
The Company
Café do Sítio is known for being a large traditional company in the Federal District that produces different types of coffee and cappuccino, in addition to grains and flours. The company has a wide reach in the Midwest and continues to grow throughout the country.
The company works from the purchase of grains to the supply and commercialization in the market, producing and making available in different blends. They always seek to offer high quality coffee that stands out for its flavor and aroma.
The project
Having already achieved success at the national level, the desire to go beyond and export arose. In this way, Café do Sítio was aiming to expand its brand abroad by selling 4 different types of products to three selected countries.
Thus, the objective of Projeto Stais was to analyze the pre-defined destinations for the exportation to plan the different processes involved from the product's departure from Brazil to the arrival at the destination country, considering the individual markets and how they operate.
Stages
Pre-Project
The Sátis Pre-Project aimed to analyze the Mercosur Common Nomenclatures (NCM) that would be more appropriate to the products that intended to be exported. Also, the team made an overview survey of Brazilian coffee exports to analyse the potential of this process.
Business Study
In this stage, the selected target markets were researched and analyzed considering some indicators:
-
Analysis of the trade flow and standardization conditions for the insertion of goods in the markets;
-
Incidence of barriers to trade (tariff and non-tariff);
-
Competitive, cultural and receptive factors for products;
-
The commercial context of coffee in exports and destinations;
-
The consumption profile of selected countries and trends in foreign markets.
Logistics Planning
In Logistics Planning, the team analyzed the ideal Incoterm (Term of International Trade) for the trade in question, the modes of transport, and possible routes for sending the cargo to the final destination. Besides, the procedures related to the carriers and insurance companies were presented, as well as their obligations and quotations. Finally, the consultants explained the whole process of customs clearance
Bureaucratic Planning
At this stage, the project team paid attention to the bureaucracy involved in the legal process of exporting the client's goods. When determining the Intervening Agents, the consultants sought the necessary documentation for the client to be in agreement with the consenting bodies of Brazil and the destination countries. Thus, documents such as licenses, declarations, certificates, requests, and others were listed by Domani, as well as the way to obtain them.
Financial Planning
The last stage of planning involved the mapping of costs of the entire export process, including those arising from Logistics Planning, obtaining all mandatory documentation (Bureaucratic Planning), the tax and tariff incidence of all countries on goods, and the requirements resulting from the compliance of standards in countries. Besides, financing options were listed to mitigate the financial impact of the export, as well as the modalities of payment of the transaction between exporter and importer.
Conclusion
The last part of the project was intended to compile the complete final report providing a holistic and summarized view of all stages of the project. Detailed elements of each of the phases involved and a general summary were placed, that is, an overview of the entire project and its directions.
Results
The Sátis Project was a Success Case since Domani proposed effective solutions to the reality of Café do Sítio, a reference company in Brazil, in order to help it become a world reference.
Personalization and care for the needs of our customers are extremely important for our company, and in this project, it was no different: Domani implemented some management reforms to adapt to the demands of Café do Sítio, as the tool of a count of hours worked.
Still, the agility in the execution of the project was a great highlight of the team, which delivered the reports with quality and made possible innovation in the management of the consultants: two teams working in the stages simultaneously. The project was carried out in a short period to assist Café do Sítio in its agile internationalization plans.
